The Cooperative Business and Leadership Training (BLT) program is designed to create an understanding
of business, cooperatives, and entrepreneurial skills among older teens within a workshop-learning environment that fosters
team building and leadership development.

Participants will be able to describe and identify four basic forms of business structure.
Participants will be able to identify some of the unique features
of each form.
Participants will be more aware of the importance of cooperatives in the American private enterprise system.
Participants and their leaders will engage in basic team building, leadership training, and skills in organizing
(or how to organize) business cooperatives.

Peer and performance evaluation will elevate deserving participants
to “Scholar- leadership” roles at future BLT seminars.
Local scholars will be selected to attend the 4-day 2008 Summer
Institute at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, June 22-25.
Up to 20 qualified scholars will be selected to attend the National
Institute on Cooperative Education (NICE).
Several of MAAC’s national participants will be selected to serve as scholar leaders in the following year’s
Summer Institute, and to help lead local one-day seminars.
